Isoflavone CFTR potentiator
General information
Genistein is a soy-derived isoflavone and phytoestrogen. It is available as a dietary supplement. Natural sources of genistein include tofu, fava beans, soybeans, kudzu, and lupin. It exhibits antioxidant, antiangiogenic and immunosuppressive activities. It is being investigated in connection to cardiovascular disease prevention in postmenopausal women. In relation to cystic fibrosis, our AIM tool found the data that genistein can help activate CFTR chloride channels.
