CFTR potentiator
General information
Curcumin is a bright yellow substance produced by Curcuma longa plants. It exhibits antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, hypoglycemic, antioxidant, wound-healing and antimicrobial activities. While it is not approved as a medical product, it is sold as an herbal supplement, cosmetics ingredient, and food coloring and flavoring. In relation to cystic fibrosis, our AIM tool found the data that curcumin can help potentiate G551D-CFTR and W1282X-CFTR channels and restore the expression of F508del-CFTR in the plasma membrane.
